Biblical signs in praising GOD

The seven words that portrait biblical sign of how to praise God.


a. YADAH: The root meaning is “EXTENDED HANDS”. It means to worship God in extended hands. Psalm 63:4 “Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name”.

b. TOWDAH: This means an extension of the hands in adoration. This is apparently used when thanking God for things not received and things already received. Psalm 50:23 “Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God”.

c. HALAL: It means to be clear, to shine and to glamorously foolish when praising God. 1 Corinthians 1:27 (NET) “But God chose what the world thinks foolish to shame the wise, and God chose what the world thinks weak to shame the strong”.

d. SHABACH: This is to address in a loud tone. To shout and to commend in a large tone. Psalm 47:1 “O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph”.

e. BARAK: It means to bless. To bow down in worshipping altitude. To bless God in expectations to receive something. 
Psalm 72:12-15 “For he shall deliver the needy when he crieth; the poor also, and him that hath no helper.

15 And he shall live, and to him shall be given of the gold of Sheba: prayer also shall be made for him continually; and daily shall he be praised”.

f. ZAMAR: This most time has to do with string instruments. It has to do with instrumental worship. 
Psalm 150 “Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.
2 Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.
3 Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.
4 Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.
5 Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.
6 Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD”.

g. TEHILLAH: This is special kinds of songs. It is ministering to the LORD in your own way until you get to a point where you just feel God’s presence.
